The Sacrament of Holy Eucharist
celebrates the Death-Resurrection of Jesus Christ; in the ritual (which Catholics often call the "Mass") we offer ourselves to the Lord in the form of bread and wine (our labor and leisure) and the Lord accepts/claims/consecrates /makes His own our gift of bread and wine. We then offer this same gift of bread and wine back to God but as a Transformed gift. The Lord then returns this same gift to us in Holy Communion; the experience is truly an exchange of gifts and experience of thanksgiving.
